Workin girls are always tired on Fridays

Posted by molly

This week was the most exhausting week of work I’ve had since I started. There were all kinds of crazy things that happened. Kids were falling out of chairs, crying nonstop, getting lost, and developing toe-threatening infections. I am so tired.

Right now I’m actually really happy though. I’m sitting at Christy’s store working on this update, which I’ve wanted to do for a while. If any of you haven’t been to her store, you should stop in and see it. She’s really made it such a great little place. I’m trying to decide what CD is in the stereo. Christy was listening to it before I got here, so I didn’t see her put it in. It’s a girl, and she sounds young. She sounds like a Lizzie McGuire type person. What’s her name again? Anyway, I guess her. Hillary Duff, that’s it… I was right. I’m switching it to Ani Difranco. They have a very interesting mix of CDs here. I guess my mom, my sister, and Toni are all pretty different in their musical tastes.

I know I have tons of time, but lately I’ve been thinking about after I graduate and whether or not I want to work at a hospital before I go into a setting like the Lighthouse. I feel like working in pediatric acute care would be beneficial, because I would see the beginning stages of what the kids go through. I just don’t know if I really need to see that though, or if it’s enough that I think they can do anything and cheer them on when they’re older. I read an article today, and that situation is one that if the kids survive, they will need a place like the lighthouse. How important is it that I see how they survive the surgery? If it’s important, then I would like to know why so I can get excited about doing working in a hospital for a while. I know the initial therapy is important, but it’s a lot different from school based OT. I don’t know. It’s just something I’m wondering about.

Well… I could probably sit here and write for the next 45 minutes until the store closes, but it probably wouldn’t really be worth reading. I should take a nap. I have a big Scrabble game ahead of me tonight, and I need to be on my toes.

Prima Ballerina

Tomorrow I go back to work, and I am very happy about it. The kids won’t be there until Tuesday, so tomorrow will be a good day to get everything ready for them to return. We will have a new student, a little girl with Rett’s, not to be confused with Tourettes. I’m excited about having her come in, but I hope I don’t completely focus on her. I’m sure it will be fine. She will be in our class next year too, so she is one of the few kids I’ll get to keep until December. I know God has big plans for these kids.

So lately my life has been pretty interesting. I went on a blind date on Tuesday, and a second date on Friday with a guy named Eric. Going through the whole “go out with someone you’ve never met” thing was really interesting, and pretty fun. I highly recommend it. I didn’t think I’d be as nervous as I was, but it was definitely a good experience. Oh, and if anyone gets an opportunity to listen to Marshall Chapman in concert, please, please don’t pass it up. She’s incredible.

Jennifer got engaged over the weekend, which was wonderful. She and BJ have been together smiling, laughing, and cuddling every since. He did a good job of surprising her. Congratulations, you crazy kids

About … two months ago maybe, while a few of us were practicing softball my foot was smashed with one of Craig’s long fly balls. I was in right field, couldn’t see the ball, and it hit my foot. I remember immediately thinking I broke it, but praying very quickly that I wouldn’t have to have crutches, because I knew I would have to run around with the kids two days later, and there is no time for broken feet at the lighthouse. My foot made a miraculous recovery, and I felt no pain the next day. It was pretty incredible. I’ve been noticing lately though, that there are times when it hurts a lot, like when I go up on my tip-toes or sit with my feet crossed. Is it ridiculous to go get an x-ray two months after an injury? I guess it doesn’t keep me from doing anything too important, but what if I wanted to take up ballet?

Well, time to prepare for a great week at work.

Heres a Twist

Posted by molly

I was just talking to Koes, and asked me if I knew what day today was. After I said I didn’t know, he said he would give me three guesses, and if I guessed it right I would get 50 billion points, but if I guessed it wrong that the points would go to him. I thought this was a great idea, because I don’t have any points!

So, let the games begin. Anyone can offer me challenges, and just between us the winner will get points. You can offer me any amount of points you want, but I don’t have to accept your challenge. Good idea Koes!

Oh, by the way… Koes won.

I’m having a little trouble with the amazing quiz, but for now this will do. You have to love life’s forever unanswered questions.

How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?

Most creative answer wins 150 billion points.

For those of you who are playing the game with the letters, I realized that I left out one of the letters that I wanted you to use. Points will be given to all people who came up with 8 letter words for the other letters, unless someone can think of a nine letter word for those. The new letters are:

N T E D E T U S E I C— I left out the C before.

So, new game, same rules.

Today was Jessica’s mom’s wedding, and it was lovely. When people were arriving you could tell she was nervous because she was introducing everyone who walked in to everyone in the room, and she did it very quickly. It was great to see her so happy. Mike stayed calm and collected the whole time, but he looked really happy too. I didn’t manage to get a picture of Frankie and Mike, but I did get a few good ones of Jessica and Craig, and one of me and Erin.
